Church of College Point in 1980
The First Reformed Church of College Point was constructed in 1872-74
to serve the First Reformed Church of College Point in Queens, New
York. The Sunday school building is a rare and well-preserved example
of the Eastlakian Gothic style in New York City, and the church
has fine Italianate features. The church underwent restorations
in 1994 and was awarded the Citation of Merit by the Metro Chapter
of the Victorian Society of America for opting to repair and repaint
the buildings, while still preserving its historic aspects. The
church is a historical and cultural relic for the community, and
deserves to be properly protected. The church is currently being
repaired/ restored again due to an unfortunate fire.
