Hospital Attempts to Escape Rezoning

In the midst of the community’s hard-won effort to rezone the neighborhood between 97-110th Streets, the Jewish Home & Hospital (106th Street between Columbus and Amsterdam) is lobbying elected officials for exemption from the proposed R-8A contextual zoning district. The rezoning plan was approved, without exemptions, by the City Planning Commission on August 8.
At the insistence of Community Board 7 and its rezoning task force, the Jewish Home & Hospital has organized a public forum to present its redevelopment plans for its 106th and 105th Street properties. This may be the only opportunity to speak out about this spot zoning before City Council hearings on the rezoning begin next week.
