Carl Doebley, a restoration specialist with Thornton Tomasetti,   will discuss the properties of historic bricks and mortars, typical problems that arise in historic brick construction, as well as proper techniques for repairing, repointing and cleaning brick.

Though there has been a long history of façade inspections regulations in New York City, recent updates to Local Law 11, now called the Façade Inspection Safety Program, have changed important requirements for architects and engineers. Timothy Lynch P.E. of the NYC Department of Buildings will discuss new requirements, including building envelope construction data and environmental exposure considerations, and how they affect the overall inspection process.
