Rally and March to Save Sunset Park

From Aaron Brashear, Concerned Citizens of Greenwood Hts., [email protected]

Please join our fellow activists and neighbors in Sunset Park at their first rally and march against the proposed out-of-context 12 story building at 420 42nd St.

This building may become the “poster child” for what kind of non-contextual development might occur in Sunset Park if this community and its neighborhoods are not considered for rezoning by City Planning in the immediate future.

Sunset Park Alliance of Neighbors (SPAN) is asking fellow community groups, Community Board 7 and our local elected officials to join forces and attend their first rally and march this weekend!

Sunset Park Alliance of Neighbors: March & Rally!
SUNDAY, MARCH 11, 2007
12:30 PM
RALLY
420 42nd Street (btwn 4th/5th Ave.)

1:30 PM
MARCH & VIGIL
Sunset Park 9/11 Memorial Grove
(43rd St. 5th Ave. entrance)

The 12-story development at 420 42nd St. will have detrimental effects on the panoramic views from Sunset Park including the elimination of the view of historic St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church’s tower from the Park and the marginalization of the view of the New York skyline from the 9/11 Memorial Grove in the Park.

Join the Sunset Park Community and SPAN on the 5½ year anniversary of the day that brought neighbors together on this very hill.

Help to save our view and our community!
