Call for Papers
Preserving New York – Then and Now

The New York Preservation Archive Project is pleased to announce its call for papers for a one day symposium, tentatively titled Preserving New York – Then and Now, to be held in New York City in February 2008. The symposium will focus on issues that have inspired and shaped the preservation movement in New York City for nearly a hundred years. Papers will be presented in panels, followed by a question and answer period. Proposals are encouraged that examine a range of topics, including, but not limited to:
• The role of the civic sector
• Individual preservationists
• Professionalism in preservation
• The role of the media
• Aesthetic regulation vs. historical commemoration
• Preservation advocacy and outreach efforts
Please submit single page abstract of your proposal by September 30, 2007 to

Call for Media Materials
Preserving New York – Then and Now
The New York Preservation Archive Project is pleased to announce a call for media materials for
a Preservation Media Festival organized in conjunction with the one-day symposium, tentatively titled Preserving New York – Then and Now, to be held in New York City in February 2008. The Preservation Media Festival will kick-off the symposium, which will focus on issues that have remained central to the preservation movement in New York City from the past to the present.
We are soliciting media materials, including, but not limited to films, video clips, audio, posters,
and graphic materials that relate to the history or current state of preservation in New York City. The submission of new and/or old materials (i.e. – historic film footage) is encouraged.
