The Historic
Districts Council encourages neighborhood advocates to preserve,
protect and improve their communities. In 2000, HDC inaugurated
the Grassroots Preservation Awards to recognize such efforts. In
addition to individuals, the awards include a “Friend in High
Places” and a “Friend from the Media,” officials
and journalists who help the cause of historic preservation. All
Grassroots Awards winner have contributed greatly to the quality
of life in New York City.
