Has it really been two years?
Has it really been two years since the 40th Anniversary of the Landmarks Law? It simultaneously feels like yesterday and twenty years ago. In any event, on the occassion of that anniversary, Gotham Gazette did an interesting series of articles on “Preservation and Progress” that really capture some of the issues of the day ~ many of which continue to plague us.
Amusingly, they also created a Flash Game called “The NYC Preservation Game” which can be found at http://www.gothamgazette.com/article/issueoftheweek/20051003/200/1604. Remember, this was posted in October 2005, before the City Council attacks on designation that would take place later that year.
