PortSide New York: Party at the Brooklyn Navy Yard!

Readings from The Graving Dock by Gabriel Cohen

A Multimedia Book Event

A Book Launch Where Ships Launch

Location: GMD Shipyard, Tailshaft and Valve Shop (a heated, hangar-sized shed), in The Brooklyn Navy Yard

Sponsored by New York Magazine.

PortSide NewYork was recently in the news for staging a Puccini opera aboard our tanker in the Red Hook containerport. See www.portsidenewyork.org/h2oarts.htm

We’ve got another unique night out for you.
We’re producing a multimedia book launch where ships launch. The book, “The Graving Dock” is the 3rd novel by Brooklyn’s own Gabriel Cohen. This is the inauguration of our new home at GMD Shipyard in the Brooklyn Navy Yard; we will be moving the tanker Mary Whalen there shortly.

Like the opera in the containerport, this event is also a first – the first cultural event ever at GMD Shipyard. GMD runs the graving docks in the Brooklyn Navy Yard and the facility in Bayonne where the Intrepid is being repaired. GMD repaired the Mary Whalen’s hull this past winter.
