The Metropolitan Museum of Art boasts one of the most comprehensive and encyclopedic collections of arms and armor on the globe. The collection comprises approximately 14,000 objects, of which more than 5,000 are European, 2,000 are from the Near East, and 4,000 from the Far East. Join the Historic Districts Council for a special behind-the-scenes look with Stephen Bluto, the Department’s Collections Manager. The tour will include a trip to the galleries and the Conservation Lab, where Met Armorer Edward Hunter will explain the ins-and-outs of armor conservation.
