Report from the Rally Against the Condo-Hotel

from the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation, http://www.gvshp.org/

BIG CROWD RALLIES AGAINST TRUMP SOHO CONDO-HOTEL: Over 100 demonstrators,
including Assemblymember Deborah Glick, City Council Zoning Subcommittee Chair Tony Avella, and representatives of City Councilmember Alan Gerson joined GVSHP, the SoHo Alliance, and more than a dozen community groups for a press conference this Sunday calling upon the City NOT to issue construction permits for the 45-story Trump SoHo Condo-Hotel. GVSHP and other participants in the press conference contend that a condo-hotel inherently violates the zoning for this site and should not be allowed, and that Trump is trying to get around the zoning and the public approval process required for such projects. GVSHP cited and displayed a long history of Trump and partners advertising their development as a ‘residence,’ which would violate the zoning for the area. For pictures from and more information about the demonstration, see www.gvshp.org/trump.htm. The demonstration garnered coverage in the Daily News, the New York Post, the New York Sun, and on 1010 WINS and WBAI Radio. GVSHP will continue to work with other community groups and elected officials to stop this project from moving forward.

HOW TO HELP:

WRITE TO THE CITY TELLING THEM TO ENFORCE OUR ZONING PROTECTIONS AND
NOT TO ALLOW THE TRUMP DEVELOPMENT TO MOVE AHEAD — go to www.gvshp.org/trumplet.htm for sample letters.
