AIA Queens May Monthly Meeting
Our next monthly meeting will be held at the Queens College, Powdermaker Hall, on Tuesday May 12th from 6:30PM to 8:00PM.

Queens College: Making a Master Plan & Building It out – The First Ten Years 1998 to 2008
During a particularly productive period in the evolution of Queens College during the 1990’s CUNY undertook development of both a Strategic Plan and a Facilities Master Plan for the Campus. The strategic plan defined the mission of the College and the Master Plan is designed to give form to that mission. Dr. Henderson will describe the interweaving of the strategic plan with the Master Plan and the architects will focus on the physical manifestation the Master Plan illustrated by four projects implemented in connection with its recommendations.
The presentation will include the renovation of Powdermaker Hall (M/G, 2004), construction of PS 495 (Michael Fieldman Associates, 2006), additions and renovations to Remsen Hall Science building (Mitchell/Giurgola, 2010), and other campus projects.
Following the presentation there will be a tour of Powdermaker Hall and its stunning photo collection of images of Queens by world class photographers Frank Gohlke and Joel Sternfeld.
Finally, John Haines, Associate Director, Office of Design and Construction, City University of New York will lead a walking tour of the campus.
