A public hearing is scheduled for September 19, 2006. More information on the area can be found on the Crown Heights North Association’s website or on the Neighborhoods at Risk section of our website. Please show your support of this worthy designation by writing a letter of support. A sample letter is below.

Dear Chair Tierney:

I am writing in strong support of the proposed designation of the Crown Heights North Historic District. Crown Heights North is one of the most diverse and significant neighborhoods in Brooklyn and one that deserves the protection and honor that landmark designation brings.

Many important churches, schools, businesses and cultural institutions in the neighborhood reside in buildings rich with history and unique architecture. Landmark status will also help preserve the unique community character that makes Crown Heights North a special place to visit, live and work.

The Crown Heights North Association and the entire community have been pushing for landmark status for many years. Please heed the many voices that are urging you to preserve this community for the future by designating it as an historic district.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
