Dear Friend-

Join Friends of the Upper East Side Historic Districts and Chester Burger as we discover the hidden tales of New York City’s buildings and streets. Chester Burger, a native New Yorker, has been studying and photographing the streets of New York for many years. Seven thousand of his stereoscopic photos of the city are in the permanent collection of The New-York Historical Society. Another 14,000 of his photographs are included in the permanent collection of the New York Public Library.

Did you know?
Though Barack Obama and most U.S. Presidents have been inaugurated in Washington, D.C., two Presidents were inaugurated in New York City. Where and when did these inaugurations take place?

Where in New York City is the oldest inhabited house that is more than 300 years old and still lived in by a private family?

How can you decipher the code on the 600,000 manhole covers in the streets to learn what’s underneath?

How did a 19-year old high school kid find the world’s oldest railroad tunnel under a Brooklyn street, after it had been lost for 121 years?

Come discover these stories and other little known facts with Friends of the Upper East Side Historic Districts.

We hope to see you there!
