ALERT: New Director of City Planning Brooklyn Office

From Amanda Burden, Commissioern, Department of City Planning:

I am extremely pleased to announce the selection of Purnima Kapur as the new Director of the Brooklyn Office. She is replacing Regina Myer, who will be joining the Hudson Yards Development Corporation after 22 years with the Department.
Purnima has been with City Planning for 17 years, and the Director of the Bronx Office since 2001. As Bronx Director, she has overseen large, complicated projects like Yankee Stadium and the Bronx Terminal Market; led multi-agency initiatives that required consensus building and creative problem solving; and overseen a number of area-wide land use and zoning studies that both addressed complicated land use issues and advanced the Mayor’s goals for neighborhood preservation and new housing development. She has also been an effective voice for the Department and Administration with community, neighborhood, business, and housing groups, as well as with elected officials and other agencies. Further, she brings to the position experience with a wide range of local, borough, and city-wide initiatives, as well as her prior tenure in Brooklyn as Deputy Director. We are confident that Ms. Kapur will bring all of these skills and experience to bear in leading the Brooklyn Office and addressing the many challenges faced by the borough.
Purnima will be starting in Brooklyn on November 6.
