Designated April 16, 1974
This bridge was crucial for the development of the Borough of Queens. When it first opened, there were four elevated railroad tracks, gour trolley tracks and a roadway ran on the lower level. The architect, Henry Hornbostel, was influenced by Jean Resal’s Pont Mirabeau in Paris, which was constructed when Hornbostel was a student at the Ecole des Beaux Arts.
