Via ZoomDating to 1831, the Bayley Seton campus was Staten Island’s first public health facility, originally known as Seaman’s Retreat. The original Seaman’s Retreat building, designated a NYC landmark in 1985, is seriously threatened with demolition by neglect. The site also contains the first U.S. Public Health Service Hospital, a Mayan Revival-style building built in 1931, and smaller contributing doctor’s residences. Learn about the 2022 Six to Celebrate Bayley Seton campus in this virtual tour with the Preservation League of Staten Island’s John Kilcullen.

Feb 26, 2024On behalf of HDC, join us on Monday, February 26th at Fraunces Tavern for a Preservation Happy Hour!
From 5-7 pm, we invite guests to meet new colleagues and friends, reconnect with existing ones, and to speak to HDC staff and elected officials about their preservation concerns and priorities for 2024.
There will be happy hour drinks and food available for purchase.
