Description: The NYC Department of Design and Construction functions as the city’s primary capital construction project manager for civic works such as firehouses, libraries, police precincts, courthouses and senior centers. Joseph LePique will explain the agency’s important role in the construction and restoration of the city-owned built environment. Jeremy Woodoff will then present a recent DDC in-house project for the interior restoration of the landmarked Park Slope branch library and explain how the DDC’s Historic Preservation Office’s draft Historic structures report helped inform that restoration work. The restoration and relighting of the two historic skylights at Park Slope led to an initiative to re-open and re-light the Carnegie libraries’ historic interior skylights, which add beautiful natural light to these graceful structures.
