Discover the surprisingly rich and diverse expressions Art Deco design and architecture associated with Jersey City’s history and development. This guided survey of industrial, residential, and commercial properties features exuberant examples of Art Deco, a streamlined diner, houses of worship, WPA artwork, an art-filled loft residence, the conservation work of Rambusch Studios, and a special tour of the Art Deco former medical center – now the largest active US historic preservation project.
Led by architectural historian Glen Leiner and sponsored by the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy, the tour includes a catered lunch with illustrated lecture by noted historian Ulana Zakalak as well as rare interior access at private properties.
