EVENT: Tour an abandoned cemetery in Staten Island – AT DUSK!

FRIENDS OF ABANDONED CEMETERIES, STATEN ISLAND FOR A FALL TOUR OF AN ABANDONED CEMETERY!

SATURDAY, October 28, 2006 (Before ALL HALLOWS EVE.)

The first tour will begin at 1 p.m., children are welcome. The second tour will begin at 4 p.m. DUSK! Children under 13 will not be permitted.

Where: Staten Island Cemetery, located on Richmond Terrace between Alaska Street and Van Street. Parking will be available in the adjacent parking lot.

We anticipate appearances from several Staten Islanders of the past as visitors USUALLY raise our spirits! Walk through this magnificent cemetery which will be in its fall glory.

The price per person will be $10 which will include “tea, coffee, apple cider and fall pastries” in the tented area at the end of the tour. We suggest that you bring a lawn chair.

At the reception tent during refreshments, Patricia M. Salmon, Curator of History, S.I. Museum and S.I. Advance Woman of Achievement ’90 Historian Marjorie Johnson will be on hand to answer S.I. historical questions. The popular book “Realms of History: The Cemeteries of Staten Island” by Ms. Salmon will be available for purchase.
