A History of Neon Signage in NYC’s Lower East Side

Starting in the early 20th century, the muted palette of the Lower East Side’s brick, stone and terra cotta commercial streetscapes began to sparkle with vibrantly colorful exuberant signage. How did this happen? Come hear Thomas Rinaldi speak on the history of neon and the wonderful aesthetic jolt it provided and continues to provide our historic neighborhood.
