Preservation School – Terminal Warehouse – May 19

May 19, 2026
6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Via Zoom

Join Charu Chaudhry, HDC Board Member and Associate Principal at Thornton Tomasetti, for this class about the restoration and adaptive reuse of Terminal Warehouse. Terminal Warehouse, one of New York City’s most significant early 20th-century industrial buildings, was originally constructed in the 1890s and expanded in the early 1900s. It once served as a vital hub for the storage and movement of goods along Manhattan’s waterfront.

Participants will examine the challenges and opportunities involved in restoring a massive, deteriorating landmark for contemporary use. The class will highlight how the firm addressed complex conditions, including restoring two enormous arched doorways through which freight trains once rumbled, as well as challenges of introducing new elements in existing walls.

General Admission $5 / AIA Credit $25
