Description: Join us as we cruise the Canal aboard the Water Taxi and introduce newcomers and old fans alike to the secrets of this now legendary waterway. See the changes as the Canal and its neighborhood experience a revival and hear accounts of the area’s environment, history, industrial architecture and weigh its future prospects.

This cruise was rescheduled due to Hamilton Ave Bridge reconstruction (beginning June 30), and because of it, this will be the only BCUE Gowanus cruise of the summer.

Today is East River Day, and elected officials, community and waterfront leaders, and activists are presenting and discussing the state of the East River in each borough, and Queens and Brooklyn are happening now and into the evening, plus the premier screening of “City of Water: New York’s Waterfront Opportunity”

1.45 p.m. – Queens East River Agenda Presentation at Water Taxi Beach, Long Island City
Brooklyn
2:45 p.m. – Depart Water Taxi Beach for Water Taxi tour of Brooklyn waterfront
3:30 p.m. – Brooklyn East River Agenda Presentation at Barge Music, Fulton Ferry
4:30 p.m. – Reception and discussion of Brooklyn’s industrial waterfront heritage, Tobacco Warehouse, Brooklyn Bridge Park.
6:30 p.m. – Premiere of City of Water at Pier 2 at Furman Street, Brooklyn.
