What do Term Limit Extensions Mean for Preservation Efforts?

If you’re on our mailing list, you should be receiving your copy of District Lines shortly (it’s also posted online at http://www.hdc.org/DL-Autumn08.htm). The lead story, “New Initiative Makes Preservation Hot Election Topic” deals directly with HDC’s League of Preservation Voters program and was written before the issue of extending term limits was brought before the City Council when it was believed that New York City would be seeing a massive turn-over in elected officials in 2009. Regardless of what is decided about term limits, this initiative remains as important to the future of preservation as before. HDC is committed to reaching out to candidates in all 51 Council races in 2009; compiling voter guides dealing with candidate’s views on preservation and development issues and hosting public candidate forums when possible.
