Liederkranz Club, 7 East 87th Street, New York

imageRestoration of Palacio Bosch celebrates historic architecture and design in Buenos Aires, and the city’s dynamic preservation movement. At its center stage is the Palacio Bosch, built 1912-15 by French architect René Sergent with interiors by André Carlhian, a collaboration resulting in a sophisticated expression of French Neoclassicism, which has been called “seminal to Argentine architectural taste.” Named for original client, foreign minister Ernesto Bosch, the house now serves as the U.S. Ambassadorial Residence, befitting its scale and grandeur.  The film will be introduced by its producer and director, Fabio Grementieri, the Argentine scholar and architect responsible for the Palacio Bosch’s restoration.  Since graduating from the University of Buenos Aires, Grementieri has played a major role in the rediscovery and restoration of Argentina’s distinct architectural heritage. Among other titles, Grementieri has authored: Buenos Aires: Architectural Heritage (2002) and Buenos Aires Art Deco and Modernism (2008). His innovative approach to numerous restoration projects (including Errázuriz Palace, Pereda Palace, and Villa Ocampo), earned him the 2009 Henry Hope Reed Award from Notre Dame’s School of Architecture.  Proceeds from the evening fund scholarships to the Victorian Society Summer Schools (London and Newport).
