Monday, June 7 Discussion: Preparing a National Register of Historic Places Nomination

Monday, June 7: Preparing a National Register of Historic Places Nomination with Kathy Howe, Historic Preservation Program Analyst in the National Register and Survey Unit of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation

8:30am, Neighborhood Preservation Center, 232 East 11th Street, Manhattan

Getting a building or neighborhood listed on the State or National Register of Historic Places is one way to help preserve your community. Listing provides many benefits for building owners and residents including tax incentives for restoration work, raising awareness about the unique history of an area, and acting as a first step towards local landmark designation. Today more than 90,000 properties are listed on the National Register of Historic Places in New York State. Join us for an informational session with Kathy Howe of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, which oversees the listing program. She will discuss the process of submitting a National Register nomination including the required materials, format, photographic documentation and statement of significance.

This event is FREE to the public. Reservations are required, as space is limited. For more information, please contact Frampton Tolbert at (212) 614-9107 or [email protected].

The Neighborhood Partners Program is sponsored, in part, by Deutsche Bank, Lily Auchincloss Foundation, Assembly Members Jonathan L. Bing, Deborah J. Glick, Richard N. Gottfried and Daniel J. O’Donnell, and State Senators Thomas K. Duane, Liz Krueger & Diane J. Savino.
