First Reformed Church of Jamaica

Designated January 30, 1996

*This was the third church built in Jamaica since 1715. As opposed to what many may think, the neighborhood Jamaica does not owe its name to Jamaica the country, but it rather derives its name from the Jameco Native Americans, who used to live in the area before Europeans arrived. The church is an example of the early Romanesque Revival styles in New York City.
