The 1 Wall Street Building is one of New York City’s most extraordinary Art Deco masterpieces. The building was constructed as the corporate headquarters for the Irving Trust Company, founded as the Irving Bank in 1851 in the Washington Market section of New York to serve the merchants and food vendors of that area. This tall, Art Deco style structure was designed and constructed in 1929-31, at the height of a building boom in New York City which helped create its unique skyline.
