679 Lafayette Avenue (Magnolia Grandiflora)

679 Lafayette Avenue House is a very fine example of the Neo-Grec style, and has particularly rich incised ornament. It also faces Tompkins Park which was planned by Olmsted and Vaux, and has helped to protect the Magnolia Grandiflora tree, a designated New York City Landmark–a unique example of the relationship between the built and natural environments.
