The Actors Studio building is a fine and rare surviving example of a vernacular Greek Revival style building in New York City which has survived remarkably intact since its construction. The well-proportioned Tuscan temple front of the building, articulated by unadorned pilasters and a low pedlinent, illustrates the high quality of the work of the architect-builder who, like many of the period, used pattern books to create a distinctive Greek Revival style building.
