Hook & Ladder No. 14 is characteristic of N. LeBrun & Sons’ numerous mid-block firehouses, reflecting the firm’s attention to materials, stylistic detail, plan, and setting. Built on the site of an earlier volunteer fire company, and then a professional suburban company, this firehouse also represents nearly 150 years of the New York Fire Department’s history.
