This educational center began in 1866 as a small, wooden house. In 1898-1900 the buildings were subsequently demolished, and in 1916-191, C.B.J. Snyder designed the current structure in Flemish Renaissance Revival-style, whose most prominent features are the stepped gables and a 169-foot, centrally-placed tower topped by a cupola and turrets.
