The Robbins & Appleton Building is a handsome commercial palazzo in the French Second Empire mode, and is an excellent representative of that type of 19th-century architecture. Among its important features are the mansard roof and the repetitive bay units, a characteristic feature of cast-iron architecture. It was built for a prominent watch-manufacturing business.
