Designated June 29, 2004
Long considered one of Staten Island’s most prestigious neighborhoods, this area consists mainly of wood-frame, freestanding houses. A small “Captains’ Row” of three mid-19th-century Italianate villas was later joined by picturesque homes in the Second Empire, Stick, Queen Anne, Shingle and Colonial Revival styles. Neo-Colonial and Arts and Crafts houses were built in the 20th century.
