The Stuyvesant Heights Historic District has over 430 structures built over a fifty-year period make up this residential district. A few early freestanding homes from the 1860s and 1870s still stand. The 1870s and 1880s brick and brownstone row houses in a variety of period styles are noted for the well-preserved ironwork. Between 1888 and 1903, elegant, four-story apartment houses were added to the neighborhood.
