Designated April 19, 1966
This is a natural phenomenon and an extraordinary gift of nature with a spread of almost eighty-five feet. It is protected by an iron fence about one hundred feet in diameter. A walkway allows visitors to enjoy the beautiful old tree from all sides. While traveling in Europe, Samuel Parsons, an American landscape architect, purchased a section of a tree on the estate of Baron DeMann, in Belgium, and planted it on this site.
