Join John Howard of Bronx Art Deco Apartment House Archive (BADAHA) for this exploration into Art Deco in the Bronx. In this class, you will learn about the Art Deco style, its place in the development of modernism, and its period of influence from 1925 to 1941. John will lead the class through his website and showcase seven Art Deco types found in the Bronx, each type will be illustrated by a single building from the archive that displays the distinct qualities of the category. Participants will learn about the landmarked, at-risk, and lost Deco buildings in the Bronx. In the process, students will also learn how to navigate the website and discover the different types and sources of its information.
