A cornerstone of New York City’s architectural heritage, the James A. Farley Building—designed by the esteemed firm McKim, Mead & White—has stood as a Beaux-Arts masterpiece since its grand opening in 1912. Once the city’s primary postal hub, the building has been reborn, its historic lobby now seamlessly merging with the vibrant Moynihan Train Hall. This adaptive reuse transformation, completed by EverGreen, honors the past while forging a dynamic future as a transportation, retail, and commercial epicenter.

EverGreene’s Matt Martin, Executive Vice President, and Nick Hopkins, Superintendent will take attendees behind the scenes of this meticulous restoration, exploring the building’s rich history and the intricate process of managing all historic trades. From plaster and paint to metal, terrazzo, marble, wood, and historic lighting, every detail was carefully revived while navigating the complexities of an active, occupied post office. Participants will gain insight into EverGreene’s preconstruction strategy and the significance of the decorative finishes that bring the Farley Building’s storied elegance back to life.

    General Admission $5 / AIA Credit $25

The Dutch town of Boswick was settled in 1661. Most of its settlers were farmers. Beginning around 1850, German immigrants fleeing civil war in the German states began settling in what was now called Bushwick. Many of these newcomers established new businesses in some aspects of the food industry - as grocers, sausage and other provision makers, tobacconists and brewers. The streets of Bushwick are a map, highlighting the industrial, residential, civic and recreational history and architecture that made it a successful and prosperous community. Today, much of that built environment is in danger of being forever erased and forgotten as the neighborhood is experiencing an unparalleled surge of popularity and growth. Our virtual tour of Bushwick highlights the best of this great neighborhood. You will meet the entrepreneurs, architects and people who shaped Bushwick in the past, and the efforts of those who seek to preserve that legacy today.
