Via ZoomWould you like to know how the almost 200-year-old, National Historic Landmark, Green-Wood Cemetery maintains its beautiful monuments? Join the Director of Restoration and Preservation at Green-Wood, Neela Wickremesinghe as she discusses just that, including their Bridge to Crafts Careers program.
Bridge to Crafts Careers is a program that teaches young adult students restoration and preservation, including stone cleaning, repair, and re-pointing, on the grounds of the cemetery utilizing the historic mausoleums. The program prepares people for an entry-level position in the field of masonry restoration. Neela will show several case studies and explain the various ways in which she, the students, and the whole restoration team maintain the art that makes Green-Wood one of the most popular New York City sites.
