One of Brooklyn’s most upscale areas is also a divided neighborhood.
Now, however, the DUMBO Business Improvement District (BID) is looking to link the east and west sides of the neighborhood.
Under the plan, the archway of the Manhattan Bridge at Water Street between Adams Street and Anchorage Place, currently fenced off, would be reopened to pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
Additionally, the Pearl Street Triangle, which abuts Anchorage Place and is currently a small parking island, would be turned into a “Town Square.”
“If you look at the Pearl Street Triangle, it makes perfect sense for a public market and it would encourage foot traffic between the east and west sides of DUMBO,” said DUMBO BID Executive Director Tucker Reed.
