Saint Mark’s Church-in-the-Bowery
131 East 10th Street, New York, NY 10003
6:00 to 8:00 PM
Since 2000, the Historic Districts Council has honored more than 150 individuals, community groups, coalitions, elected officials, and press outlets for their achievements. This year, HDC continues the tradition to recognize, honor, and encourage public participation in the preservation process. Join us on Tuesday, June 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at St. Mark’s Church-in-the-Bowery for our annual Grassroots Preservation Awards and Preservation Party.
Successful historic preservation efforts in New York City require collaboration amongst many parties, including the public, government agencies, and private sector entities. Grassroots Award recipients work on the ground, in public service, in communities, and online to bring attention and resources to saving the heart and soul of New York City. We are pleased to announce that our 2024 honorees are:
The Cadman Park Conservancy
Friends of the Lower West Side
Metro Area Governors Island Coalition (M.A.G.I.C.)
Mickey Murphy Lifetime Achievement Award
Ann-Isabel Friedman
We will also be presenting the inaugural awardees of the Jeffrey Kroessler Student Research Award. We are pleased to announce that our 2024 awardees are:
Weijie “Christina” Sun (Columbia University, GSAPP) with her thesis “Invisible History” of the Chinese Americans’ “Economic Lifelines”: Spatial Interpretations of the Pillar Industries of the Chinese American Community in Manhattan’s Chinatown, 1930s – 1980s.
