Saturday, June 22, 2024
11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

This walking tour explores and celebrates the achievements and future of community-led, government-funded projects that are reshaping the urban environment of The Bronx. The walking tour begins at West Farms, highlighting the 50-year Bronx River Restoration effort. We will visit Drew Garden, discussing the transformation of the West Farms intersection through a fully-funded DDC project. The tour will also explore a section of the Cross Bronx Expressway, discussing successful funding projects and the CapThe Cross Bronx initiative. The tour proceeds through Starlight Park, stops at River House beside the repurposed Sheridan Blvd, and concludes at the Cass Gilbert-design station by the Whitlock Avenue Train Station. The tour will be led by Nilka Martell, founder of Loving the Bronx, an organization that promotes community building, and development.
