610 Exterior Street, Bronx, NY 10451

The Historic Districts Council (HDC) and the Garifuna Coalition USA, Inc., are delighted to welcome you to the launch of our Six to Celebrate walking tour guidebook of the Garifuna Diaspora. The HDC developed this brochure in partnership with the Garifuna Coalition USA. It features the sites of the Happy Land Memorial Walking Tour, a project that stands as a powerful testament to the long and enduring Garifuna presence in New York City.

The featured sites offer a glimpse into this community’s rich history, inviting you to explore further and support efforts to protect, preserve, and celebrate its unique legacy. We extend our sincerest gratitude to our community partners, volunteers, and the Garifuna families who have shared their stories and homes with us. Your contributions have made this project a true celebration of resilience, tradition, and community.

This event will feature a live performance of Garifuna music, a short history of the Garifuna Diaspora, stories from Garifuna business owners featured in the brochure, plus more.
