Preservation School: Saving Edgar Allan Poe’s Cottage – April 6

SAVING EDGAR ALLAN POE’S COTTAGE:

A CASE STUDY FOR THE LAY PRESERVATIONIST

April 6, 2022

6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Via Zoom

One need not be a trained preservationist to launch a campaign to save a building. While the field of historic preservation has its place in the world of academia, many cases have shown that saving a historic structure may not be an impossible goal for ordinary citizens. Join Bronx historian Angel Hernandez as he shares his experiences with the restoration of the Edgar Allan Poe Cottage.

This case study in grassroots efforts will highlight strategies for engaging the support of the community and elected officials and launching effective press and social media campaigns.

Angel Hernandez is President of the Huntington Free Library, a NYC Individual Landmark.
