CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS
A modified late Italianate style rowhouse built in 1873-1874. Application is to construct rooftop and rear yard additions, and alter the rear facade.
Architect: Archimuse
HDC finds this proposal to be generally appropriate and in scale with other additions to this district. We wonder whether the pair of French doors on the second floor would be better either left alone as a single door, or align the new pair of doors on the centerline of the masonry pier of the third floor.
We would also note that the termination of the wall of the extension lacks sufficient detail for us to understand how the architect is handling this important condition. We would encourage the applicant to work with staff to develop the proposed brick detailing to a greater level of resolution.

CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS
An Italianate style building built c. 1850. Application is to alter the front façade and stoop.
Architect: Matthew Viederman
HDC Finds this application to be appropriate and generally very well done. However, we believe that the material used on the front elevation should be real wood and not Hardi plank or Azek. We would also note that the tax photo appears to show a thick skirt board at the base of the siding just above the brick plinth, adding this detail would be a good thing.

CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS
An Italianate style store and loft building designed by Isaac F. Duckworth and built in 1860; and an Italianate style store and loft building built in 1856-57. Application is to construct a rooftop addition, replace storefronts, remove a fire escape, remove fire shutters, and alter the party wall.
Architect: ODA
HDC would prefer to see the shutters be kept on the rear elevation of this building. However, if the shutters are to be removed, then we believe they should all be removed. The current proposal is too inconsistent on this matter.
