LPC-25-01044 CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS A Colonial Revival style rowhouse designed by Clarence Stein and Henry Wright and built in 1926. Application is to legalize the installation of skylights without Landmarks Preservation Commission permit(s). Architect: DSENY EngineeringServices PC Given that we have seen several legalizations in Sunnyside recently, it appears to us that there needs to be greater community outreach about LPC permits in this district. HDC would love to assist the LPC in that outreach work. Action: approved. |

LPC-25-01278 CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS A Romanesque Revival style row house built in 1889-90. Application is to construct a rear yard addition. Architect: GRASSO-MENZIUSO ARCHITECTS Though it is outside this commission’s purview, HDC wanted to note that we are thrilled to see this rowhouse adding additional multi-family housing units to this district. In terms of the application itself, we hope the applicant will return with a revised design. We find the currently proposed rear yard addition to be one story too high, and compositionally out of context with other rowhouse rears. Action: no action. |
