The Four Borough Neighborhood Preservation Alliance is proud to announce the 2008 Neighborhood Preservation Award.

New York didn’t become a great city by accident. It is the work of many people working in many different neighborhoods, fighting passionately for their local causes.  From Crown Heights to Staten Island, from fighting the abuse of government planning to saving churches in Queens, we are deeply grateful for the achievements of our awardees in making our home a better place. While the battle to preserve and promote our history and communities may involve the minutiae of property deeds and zoning laws, the effect is global.

Awardees:

David Carnivale, R.A.
(Staten Island architect & author)

Juniper Park Civic Association
(Queens)

Assembly Member Rory Lancman
(Queens)

Castle Coalition

Historic District Council’s
League of Preservation Voters

South Brooklyn Legal Services

Barnett Shepherd
(Staten Island Historian)

Crown Heights North Association, Inc.
(Brooklyn)
