The Staten Island Institute of Arts & Sciences is pleased to invite you to not one, but two, book talks and signings . . .

“Realms of History: The Cemeteries of Staten Island”
with author and curator of history, Patricia M. Salmon

Where: New Dorp Branch, New York Public Library, 309 New Dorp Lane
Tuesday, September 26, 6:30 p.m. Free.

Where: Conference House Pavilion, end of Hylan Boulevard, Tottenville
Saturday, September 30, 1 p.m. Free. Hosted by the Tottenville Historical Society. In the event of rain meet at the Conference House Visitor’s Center.
Lawn chairs are recommended.

Discover the burial grounds of Staten Island! Native American, Slave, homestead, and immigrant graveyards will all be discussed, as will religious burial grounds on Staten Island (Silver Lake Cemetery, Baron Hirsch Cemetery, Saint Joseph’s Cemetery and others), institutional burial grounds (at the Farm Colony, Sailors’ Snug Harbor, Mount Loretto and others), and abandoned cemeteries and their reclamation by the Friends of Abandoned Cemeteries (Lake Cemetery in
Graniteville, Sylvan Grove Cemetery in Travis, and Fountain Cemetery in West New Brighton, plus others). A special discussion on the former Quarantine burial grounds at Tompkinsville, Prince’s Bay, and Silver Lake will be featured.
Copies of this new book will be for sale and signed by the author.
