EVENT: Barry Lewis Visits Sunnyside Gardens on Channel 13 & Celebration of Sunnyside Park's 80th Birthday

Dear neighbors,

Our friend and advisor Barry Lewis reminds us that WNET is currently re-broadcasting its popular series of “Walks.” And this isn’t a pledge drive, so they’re being presented without interruption. Of special interest to us, “A Walk Through Queens with David Hartman and Historian Barry Lewis,” will be shown on Channel 13 tonight (Thursday), October 12, from 9:30 to 11 PM, and it will repeated October 17 from 1:30 to 3 AM.

Channel 13 is using a view of Sunnyside Gardens in its on-air announcements for the coming show, and our neighborhood appears approximately 35 minutes into the program. Barry sums up by saying, “I can’t think of a better neighborhood to live in in New York City”– the quotation that appears on back of our historic Sunnyside Gardens T-shirt.

Those T-shirts are still available at last year’s prices ($12) through this Sunday’s 80th Anniversary Celebration of Sunnyside Park, from 3 to 6, which everybody is invited to join in, whether you’re a member of the Park or not.

Above is an image that also appears in “A Walk Through Queens.” (If the Guinness Book of World Records acknowledged the most kids who ever fit on a single sliding board…) This is one of the historical photos that the Park will display, in addition to its other festivities. You won’t want to miss this event. The Park’s detailed announcement follows.

See you there,
