AFTER 25 months of effort, our neighborhood and the EVCC
have made great [and sometimes stunning] progress preserving old PS 64, the original Charas El Bohio, as a NYC Landmark. We don’t know what will finally happen, but there is much to be proud of. AND much remains to be done…

What lies ahead for our neighborhood?
Become a member, help forge our agenda and enable the EVCC to continue to be a force for positive change.

Our Immediate OBJECTIVES are:
* Landmark designation for old PS 64, former Charas El Bohio
* Preservation of St. Brigid’s Church
* Zoning changes necessary to maintain the East Village’s low-rise built environment
* Preservation of community gardens as the mapping of a Garden District
* Designation of appropriate Historic Districts
* GET LOCAL ! – the promotion & support of locally owned and operated stores, restaurnts & businesses
* Support for residents in danger of displacement
* Sustain a diverse community affordable to all

The EVCC MISSION:
The EVCC works to recognize, sustain, and support the built and cultural character of the East Village. This character includes a diverse population; low-rise, human-scale blocks and buildings with historic and architectural significance; a multitude of community gardens; indigenous stores and businesses; and the neighborhood’s history and ongoing tradition as a haven for those seeking freedom to express artistic, creative, and social concerns.

PLEASE rsvp to [email protected],

Please COME and PLEASE CONTRIBUTE…
The cost alone of fighting to landmark old PS 64, former Charas El Bohio is enormous — and we’re NOT used to asking YOU for money, but “I’m not gonna lie to you”… We NEED your contributions…
Best, — the EVCC
