“Following last spring’s hugely successful slide lecture on the 1939/1940 New York World’s Fair, we are excited to welcome back historian and tour guide, Pierre Montiel for another slide presentation, this time focusing on the remarkable architecture of the 1939/1940 World’s Fair,” said the society’s Executive Director, Mitchell Grubler.

Through slides, Mr. Montiel will demonstrate the innovative architecture displayed at the fair, discuss the architects and designers and explain how the fair contributed to 20th century architecture. One of the new technologies of the time was Eastman Kodak color chrome photography. Montiel draws from his private collection of these rare slides for this historical
look back at what for residents of Queens represented a monumental transformation in the heart of the borough.
